Jethro Tshisumpa is transferring from Arizona State basketball after his freshman season.

The 6-10 Tshisumpa played in 26 games with five starts but was suspended for the final six games for a team rules violation. He averaged one point, 1.5 rebounds and 7.4 minutes with 25 total blocks.

“We appreciate Jethro’s efforts academically and athletically and wish him the very best in the future,” ASU coach Bobby Hurley said Wednesday.

On March 13, four days after ASU’s 15-18 season ended, Hurley said Tshisumpa’s status was “to be determined. He was suspended and not available on a really thin team where we needed him. It’s a fluid situation.”

ASU will have five new posts next season: 6-8 Romello White, 6-9 Vitaliy Shibel, 6-7 Mickey Mitchell, 6-8 Kenny Wooten and 6-10 De’Quon Lake. White and Shibel redshirted as freshmen, Mitchell is a sophomore transfer from Ohio State, Wooten (freshman) and Lake (junior college transfer) will sign in April. Lake from Iowa Western committed to ASU this week.

Other incoming ASU freshmen are guard Remy Martin and wing Kimani Lawrence.
