A 19-year-old woman is suspected of stabbing a convenience store clerk Friday night in Phoenix after being asked to leave the store.

Jasmine Vega was arrested on suspicion of aggravated assault following the stabbing shortly before 9:40 p.m. Friday at a store near 16th Street and Indian School Road, according to a Phoenix police news release.

The male clerk was taken to a hospital with injuries that were not life threatening, police said.

Vega had been asked to leave the store. Shortly after she left, she returned and attacked the clerk, the release said.

Police put out a description of the suspect, and Vega was found and detained wearing different clothes. Police recovered the knife and original clothing, and Vega admitted to the altercation while being interviewed, the release stated.

Vega is being held at a Maricopa County jail and faces possible charges of aggravated assault, according to police. She is being held on a $20,000 bond.
