With the second half of the 2017 MLB season underway, let’s take a look at how the postseason would look, if it started today (through July 18, 2017).
All three division champions in each league make the playoffs.
The two teams with the best records in each league that didn’t win their division also make the postseason as Wild Card teams. They face off in a one-game playoff with the team with the better record getting to host.

The Diamondbacks, who had been losing ground in their battle for a playoff berth, got a much-needed win Tuesday night against the Reds.
They also added a much-needed outfielder and power bat to their lineup in J.D. Martinez, giving the team help in their race toward the postseason.
They have a six game lead on the third team in the NL Wild Card standings (it was 9.5 at the All-Star break).
As for the division race, Arizona trails the Los Angeles Dodgers by 10.5 games (it was 7.5 games at the All-Star break).

Playoff odds
The Arizona Diamondbacks are given a 0.1 percent chance to win the NL West by fangraphs.com (it was 0.5 percent at the All-Star break).
They are given an 77.8 percent chance at a Wild Card berth (it was 87.5 percent at All-Star break) and an 77.8 percent chance overall to make the playoffs (it was 88 percent at All-Star break).
The Los Angeles Dodgers, according to fangraphs.com, have a 99.9 percent chance of winning the NL West (it was 99.4 at All-Star break). They have a 100 percent chance to make the playoffs.
The Colorado Rockies are now given a 56.6 percent chance to get a Wild Card berth.
