A man was arrested Thursday afternoon on suspicion of sexual abuse after a woman told police he touched her as she tried to move past him inside a Goodyear church, police said.
The woman told police that while sitting in the chapel of St. John Vianney Church, 45-year-old Tyrone Gastineau made her extremely uncomfortable by scratching his stomach, making noises and laughing, Goodyear police said.
As the woman got up to leave, she told investigators, Gastineau looked back at her before leaning back and extending both arms.
He intentionally touched one of the woman’s breasts with the back of his hand, she said, and then started laughing, according to police.
Gastineau was booked in a county jail on suspicion of one count of sexual abuse. Bail for his release was set at $3,000. A stipulation of his release is the installation of an electronic monitoring system, which requires a stable residence with a phone line.
Records indicate that Gastineau is homeless, according to police records.
He will return to court on Sept. 28 for a pretrial conference.
