Two hikers were stung multiple times by bees in north Scottsdale Wednesday evening, fire officials said.

The Scottsdale Fire Department responded to an area near Shea Boulevard and 142nd Street about 7 p.m., said Lori Schmidt, a department spokeswoman.

One hiker was able to descend the trail without help after being stung, but the other hiker was unable to get down, she said.

A helicopter was called to lift the hiker off the trail, Schmidt said.

Sunrise Trail is part of Scottsdale’s McDowell Sonoran Preserve.
