Two hikers were stung multiple times by bees along a Scottsdale trail Wednesday evening, fire officials said.

The Scottsdale Fire Department responded to the Sunrise Trail near Shea Boulevard and 142nd Street about 7 p.m., said Lori Schmidt, a department spokeswoman.

One hiker was able to descend the trail without help after being stung, but the other hiker was unable to get down, she said.

A helicopter was called to lift the hiker off the trail, Schmidt said.

Sunrise Trail is part of Scottsdale’s McDowell Sonoran Preserve.
