Philadelphia Flyers goalie Michal Neuvirth was taken off on a stretcher after collapsing during the first period of the Flyers’ game Saturday against the New Jersey Devils.

Neuvirth fell over completely untouched.

He was awake and appeared to have full movement when he was taken off the ice on a stretcher by medical personnel, according to reporters on the scene and those watching the broadcast.

Neuvirth is in his second season with the Flyers, and signed a two-year extension with the team earlier this season.

The Flyers confirmed in a Tweet Saturday night that Neuvirth was “awake and alert” and was being taken to a hospital for further evaluation.

According to the team more details will be made available Sunday.
