Phoenix police say a woman was struck and killed by a drunk driver while crossing a road early Thursday morning.

The woman, who was said to be in her 30s, had been crossing Camelback Road between 99th and 101st avenues when she was hit.

She died at the scene. Her name was not immediately released.

A field sobriety test was administered and officers determined that the driver of the vehicle was intoxicated, police said.
