A group of NASCAR drivers discuss the accomplishments of Danica Patrick.
USA TODAY Sports
DOVER, Del. – Danica Patrick said she has had “some, but not a ton” of discussions with NASCAR teams about a possible return to the sport next season.
Otherwise, she said she’s allowing her management team to handle the process.
Patrick has seven top-10s — with a best of sixth at Atlanta in 2014 — and one pole in 182 starts over six seasons, five full, at NASCAR’s highest level.
She announced on Facebook two weeks ago that she would not return to the No. 10 Ford at Stewart-Haas Racing as sponsor Smithfield moved to the team, presumably to bring Aric Almirola with it from Richard Petty Motorsports.
SHR had to cobbled together sponsorship for the 35-year-old after Nature’s Bakery left the team before the season in a move that was eventually settled in court.
