A big rig driver reported being shot in the leg Friday morning while travelling westbound on Interstate 10 near Buckeye, officials said.

The gunshot-wound victim pulled off the freeway at Verrado Way and was transported to a hospital, according to Trooper Kameron Lee with the Arizona Department of Public Safety.

Lee said the investigation was in its initial stages, and it wasn’t immediately clear whether the gun was fired from inside or outside the vehicle.

Troopers at the scene said they were unable to identify any bullet holes in an initial search of the exterior of the cab.
