The National League wild card race is headed down to the wire.

Although not yet a lock, the Diamondbacks sit in good position to host the one-game playoff for the right to advance to the NLDS.

Where they stand

Entering Friday’s games, the Diamondbacks held a six game lead on the Rockies for the No. 1 wild card spot. 

The Brewers were only one game behind the Rockies for the No. 2 spot.

The Cardinals were just a half-game behind the Brewers.

Season series

The Diamondbacks went 11-8 against the Rockies this season.

They went 4-3 against the Brewers.

Arizona was 3-4 against the Cardinals.

The Rockies were 2-4 against St. Louis and 4-3 against Milwaukee.

The Brewers went 9-7 against the Cardinals this season (they still have three games against each other).

Remaining schedules

The Diamondbacks have 3-game series’ left vs. the Marlins (home), Giants (home) and Royals (road). 

The Rockies have 3-game series’ against the Padres (road), Marlins (home) and Dodgers (home).

The Brewers have three games remaining vs. Cubs (home), then three against the Reds (home) and then three games in St. Louis.

The Cardinals have three games at the Pirates, four games at home against Cubs and then they host Milwaukee to end the regular season.

Odds

Fangraphs.com gives the Diamondbacks a 100 percent chance to make the playoffs.

It gives the Rockies a 57.6 percent chance at a wild card berth.

The Brewers are at 19.5 percent and the Cardinals are at 21.2 percent.

NL Central race over?

Could the Brewers or Cardinals catch the Cubs in the NL Central?

Chicago has a 4.5 game lead on Milwaukee and a five game lead on St. Louis.

The Cubs play the Brewers or Cardinals in seven of their final 10 games (they end with a three game series vs. Cincinnati).
