A terminally ill man received a phone call from President Trump, fulfilling his wish.

A Connecticut man who received a phone call from President Donald Trump last week died on Wednesday, eight days after the president had fulfilled the man’s bucket list wish.
Jay Barrett died at the age of 44, sister Bridgette Hoskie said. Barrett made national headlines last week after the avid Trump supporter who was receiving palliative care for the end stages of cystic fibrosis spoke with the president. The call was facilitated by Hoskie, who is a local politician and a Democrat.
“You’re my kind of man, Jay. … I’m very proud of you,” Trump said during the call. “I’ll talk to you again, Jay, OK? You keep that fight going. We both fight.”
After the call, Department of Housing and Urban Development regional chief Lynne Patton — who grew up in Connecticut — also delivered autographed and rare Trump campaign memorabilia to Barrett, The New Haven Register reported.
The effort to fulfill Barrett’s wish to have contact with the president transcended politics and drew support from local Democratic politicians, the paper reports.
“He really did live one of the best weeks of his life last week,” Hoskie said. “That phone call meant everything to him.”
