Look out Glendale: Captain America and Spider-Man are coming to save the day in January.
Chris Evans and Tom Holland, who play the two Marvel heroes, are among the celebrity guests scheduled to appear at Ace Comic Con, a new pop culture convention coming to Gila River Arena Jan. 13-15. Tickets are now on sale for the three-day event.
Captain America will also be joined by his best friend Bucky Barnes, played by Sebastian Stan, and his one-time girlfriend Peggy Carter, portrayed by Hayley Atwell. Also in the line-up is Anthony Mackie, known for his role as superhero Falcon in Marvel’s “The Avengers,” and two other actors from “Spider-Man: Homecoming,” Laura Harrier and Jacob Batalon.
Brothers Stephen and Gareb Shamus are the founders of Ace Universe, the New York-based parent company of the convention. Gareb founded Wizard World in 1991, and Shephen served as chief marketing officer.
“Chris Evans, Tom Holland and the casts of both films are global box office stars that provide fans a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to meet and greet with their favorite super heroes,” said Stephen Shamus in a press release. “When you listen to the fans, these are the stars that are most requested, so securing the main cast members from both Marvel franchises makes this a can’t-miss weekend.”
The inaugural Ace Universe con is taking place Dec. 8-10 on Long Island in New York, and also has some big celebrity names attached to it. Most come from the upcoming DC Comics “Justice League” film, including Henry Cavill, Gal Gadot and Jason Momoa.
In additional to the celebrity guest panels, the Glendale event will feature illustrators including Billy Martin, hands-on workshops, exhibitors and virtual reality installations. More guests will be announced soon, including stars from World Wrestling Entertainment.
