Scottsdale Chaparral has a new head coach for its boys varsity golf team next season.

The school’s athletic director Dan Bode announced in an email to The Republic that Bob DeFeyter was hired earlier this week.

DeFeyter replaces Dan Peterson, who stepped down from the role after six seasons.

“It was just time for me, excited about having more time with the family,” Peterson said via text message. “I think I am leaving the program in a much better place than when I took it over.”

DeFeyter is an avid golfer who was hired by Chaparral’s administration to be a physical education teacher in 2008. He also coaches soccer and will continue in his roles at the school.
