Over the weekend, the Boston Celtics agreed to trade the No. 1 pick in Thursday’s NBA draft to the Philadelphia 76ers.

azcentral sports’ Doug Haller explained how the trade could affect the Suns here (and who he thinks the Suns will land with their No. 4 pick).

What do other writers think will happen with Phoenix’s selection?

Take a look at updated projections for the Suns in the first round of the NBA draft:

NBA MOCK DRAFTS: Gem for the Suns in second round?

SI.com: Suns take Kentucky PG De’Aaron Fox

Andrew Sharp writes: “A few weeks ago I spent the day with De’Aaron Fox for this profile, and concluded two things. 1) Fox is probably the biggest gamble in the top 10 because of his jumper, but 2) his ceiling is as high as anyone available, including Fultz. He spent the beginning of his freshman year battling nagging injuries and struggling to assert himself, but over the second half of the year he became a different player. He was impossible to keep out of the lane, and he was relentless on defense. As he gets stronger, his speed will only get more dangerous, and if he gets even a half-decent jumper, he’s a superstar. All of which is to say: if Jackson and Ball are off the board, it makes sense for the Suns to bet the next 5-7 years on Fox and Booker.”

Bleacher Report: Suns go with Duke F Jayson Tatum

Chris Roling writes: “The Phoenix Suns really like Ball, or at least one could get such an idea based off a quick Google search. In the mock above, though, the Lakers aren’t passing on the California kid who just so happens to be one of the best pure passers to enter the league in a long time. Rather than settling for lesser value at the point, the mock has the Suns rolling with Duke’s Jayson Tatum, who remains neck and neck with Jackson as the best forward in the class. Where Tatum falls a bit behind Jackson is shooting, but we’re still talking about a guy who averaged 16.8 points, 7.3 rebounds, 2.1 assists, 1.1 blocks and 1.3 steals per game while shooting 45.2 percent from the floor.”

Draft Express: Suns select Kansas SF Josh Jackson

SUNS DRAFT HISTORY: Ryan McDonough’s picks

SB Nation: Suns pick Jackson

Ricky O’Donnell writes: “No one is more jacked up about the 76ers-Celtics trade than the Suns. Josh Jackson seemed likely to go No. 3 before the trade. Now he should be available for the Suns at No. 4. Jackson is exactly what Phoenix needs: a high-motor, two-way wing next to Devin Booker and the developing young frontcourt of Dragan Bender and Marquese Chriss.”

Gary Parrish writes: “There are some NBA people who have, at various times, believed Tatum is actually the top player in this draft. So it won’t shock many if he ends up being the best player from this draft, say, five years from now. The 6-8 wing averaged 16.8 points and 7.3 rebounds while helping Duke win the 2017 ACC Tournament in his only year of college. The lone thing missing, at this point, is a reliable 3-point shot. But that can be developed over time. So it’s not a major concern. Put Tatum next to Devin Booker, and the Suns could have the pieces to be good again. If he’s available here, Phoenix should select him.”

nj.com: Suns go with Tatum

Matt Lombardo writes: “Duke forward Jayson Tatum could be the most NBA-ready of the top-five prospects in this year’s draft class. Pairing Tatum, who averaged 16.8 points and 7.3 rebounds per game last season in a lineup with Devin Booker could be the spark the Suns have been searching for to take the offense to the next level.”

It writes: “The Suns have shown an affinity toward Kentucky guards and a pairing of DeAaron Fox and Devin Booker would make for a prolific young backcourt.”

sportingnews.com: Suns pick Florida State SF Jonathan Isaac

Sean Deveney writes: If the Suns are ready to commit to positionless basketball, Isaac is their man. He is a very athletic combo forward who would give the Suns an intriguing pairing alongside fellow youngster Marquese Chriss. With Fox, and possibly Ball, on the table, though, the Suns would have a tough choice if they went for a point guard, even if it means trading away star guard Eric Bledsoe.
