It took one big performance this summer against some of the best players in the nation for Chandler wide receiver Kyion Grayes II to make his move up the 247Sports 2022 recruiting rankings.

247Sports updated their player rankings for the 2022 class on Wednesday.

After an impressive performance at The Opening in Southern California, a receiver catching deep passes from 11 of the best high school quarterbacks competing in the Elite 11, Grayes moved from an 111 overall ranking to No. 47 in the 2022 class by 247Sports.

The Ohio State-bound Grayes caught the eyes of recruiting analysts during the three-day event

“Kyion Grayes has shown himself to be one of the nation’s top playmakers time and time again,” 247Sports wrote. “His recent performance at The Opening Invitational cemented that. The future Ohio State Buckeye is sudden and knows how to create separation. Then when the ball is in the air, he tracks it very well. He’s a great fit in the Buckeye system and has earned his way to this bump.”

Out of that Opening/Elite 11 event, former Queen Creek quarterback and USC commit Devin Brown cracked the 247Sports rankings for the first time at No. 180. He was on the outside of the rankings before Wednesday. Brown moved this summer with his family to Utah to play his senior season at Corner Canyon in Draper.

“One of the biggest movers from the Elite 11 Finals is USC commit Devin Brown, who had a fantastic performance there, adding a fourth star and now making his debut in the Top247,” 247Sports wrote. “Brown was accurate, threw the ball with pace and consistency, and showed he belong among the nation’s best.”
