Chandler police have identified 25-year-old Delano Marquis OrtizĀ as the murder suspect who shot and killed a man near downtown Chandler on Saturday night over a television.

Chandler police Sgt. Daniel Mejia said police were called to the Elmwood Mobile Home Park near Chandler Boulevard and Arizona Avenue for reports of a gunshot. When they arrived, Mejia said, 24-year-old Christian Acosta was found lying dead outside.

He had been shot one time, Mejia said.

During the homicide investigation, detectives were able to identify Ortiz as the suspect and arrested him later Saturday night. He is being charged with second-degree murder. Police provided no details on the shooting, other than saying it involved a dispute over a television.

Mejia said detectives have not yet recovered the shotgun used in the shooting, as Marquis discarded the weapon inside a dumpster at an apartment complex near Chandler Boulevard and McQueen Road.

Police are concerned and are asking the public’s help in recovering the weapon.

Anyone with information on the weapon’s whereabouts are asked to call the Chandler Police Department at 480-782-4130.
