Phoenix police say a pedestrian was killed after two cars involved in a crash veeredonto a sidewalk Friday afternoon.

Police responded to the  near 24th Street and Broadway Road in Phoenix at 1:30 p.m. where witnesses said a vehicle turning onto 24th street collided with another vehicle traveling northbound, according to Phoenix Police Sgt. Mercedes Fortune.

The impact forced both vehicles to veer onto the sidewalkand both the man and woman were struck, Fortune said.

Both pedestrians and one of the drivers were transported to a hospital, where the male pedestrian was pronounced dead, Fortune said.

Police were still investigating the crash Friday, but have ruled out impairment as a cause, she added.
