The Eric Bledsoe trade rumors ended with him being dealt to the Milwaukee Bucks, but other rumors surrounding the Phoenix Suns are heating up.

While Greg Monroe continues to be a hot topic, another subject continues to gain steam: the team’s point guards (or lack thereof).

Could the team acquire one through a trade?

MORE: Suns fans sound off on Eric Bledsoe trade

The Heat Index takes a look at the latest rumors involving the Suns:

Brightsideofthesun.com: What can the Phoenix Suns do about their point guard situation?

It writes: “With all due respect to Mike James and Tyler Ulis, neither of them have yet to prove that they are starting caliber NBA point guards. That leaves the Phoenix Suns with yet another problem in a still young season that has already had more than it’s fair share of problems. Is there a feasible solution?”

Bickley: Phoenix Suns need to alleviate Devin Booker’s frustration before it gets serious

ESPN.com: Who are the Suns now, after trading all their point guards?

Zach Lowe writes: “For a moment, the Suns could have lived the dream: compete for the playoffs now, with a cupboard stocked for tomorrow. Straddling both paths at the same time is perhaps the hardest team-building challenge in sports. Phoenix had done it.”

LA Times: Suns’ playoff drought not ending anytime soon

Paul Coro writes: The Suns could have three first-round picks in the 2018 draft and have stockpiled first- and second-round pieces to position for an acquisition. But acquiring talent has been less of a problem for the Suns than figuring out what to do with it. They have gone for the splash previously, acquiring guard Brandon Knight in 2015 and signing him to a $70 million deal. Then they removed him from the starting lineup, shut him down at the end of last season and lost him for all of this season due to a knee injury. The Knight move was in concert with the 2015 dismantling of a point guard triumvirate of Bledsoe, Dragic and Isaiah Thomas, each of whom was displeased about sharing the ball-handling despite a 28-20 record. Thomas went on to be an All-Star leading Boston to a No. 1 seed. Dragic has thrived into his 30s in Miami. Bledsoe could prosper too.”

amicohoops.net: Cavs exploring ways to acquire Greg Monroe from Suns

Sam Amico writes: “The Cleveland Cavaliers have a strong interest in Greg Monroe, and are exploring ways to obtain the Phoenix Suns’ newly acquired center, league sources told Amico Hoops. The Suns reportedly are looking to move Monroe, either via trade or contract buyout. Cavs general manager Koby Altman would need to get creative to acquire Monroe, as the roster is already full with 15 players under contracts. The San Antonio Spurs and Denver Nuggets are among others said to be interested in Monroe.”

kingjamesgospel.com: 3 potential ways the Cleveland Cavaliers can acquire Greg Monroe

Jared Hesketh details some ways Cleveland can get Monroe from the Suns, including possibly trading Channing Frye and Iman Shumpert.

cleveland.com: Cavaliers interested in Greg Monroe?

Joe Vardon writes: “The Cavs don’t currently view Jahlil Okafor as a fit. As for Greg Monroe, the interest in him would be higher, sources indicated to me. Monroe is 6-11 and 265 pounds, but he isn’t really a shot blocker (which Cleveland lacks). He’s a scorer (though, this season, he’s averaging just 6.8 points per game). The Cavs, though flawed, have a crowded rotation already, so pursuing Monroe in any way would probably follow or coincide with other roster changes.”

fanragsports.com: 3 teams that could use Greg Monroe

Wes Goldberg writes: “Greg Monroe isn’t long for the Phoenix Suns. The Suns acquired the big man as part of a trade to send point guard Eric Bledsoe to the Milwaukee Bucks. Monroe was involved in the deal for salary-matching purposes, and Phoenix is expected to trade his expiring contract or buy him out.” He lists Utah, Philadelphia and Cleveland as the three teams.

azcentral sports: Monroe understands if he’s traded again soon

Scott Bordow writes: “Monroe said he was blindsided by the trade and admitted it’s “weird” to get dealt to a team that might never put him on the floor.”

“’I just told them I understand the plan they have in place and how they want to approach the season,” said the 6-foot-11, 265-pound Monroe, who averaged 6.8 points and five rebounds a game for the Bucks. “I told them, ‘If you want me to play I’ll always play. I’ll never be one not to want to play. If not we’ll just work together and find the best option for everyone.’ But I’m more than happy to play here.

“‘But it’s what we signed up for,” he said. “It can happen to anyone at any moment. My job is to play. That’s what I focus on, and that’s really it. I was surprised, though. I was just trying to get healthy, get back on the floor and help that team (Milwaukee). Now that I’m here I’ll do the same here and if it’s somewhere else I’ll do the same there. My focus doesn’t change.’”

thesixersense.com: Jahlil Okafor trade gaining traction

Phoenix is loaded with 2018 draft picks. The team could land three first round picks in 2018 and has three second round picks in 2018 as well. As Philadelphia 76ers fans know all too well, the value of so many picks on one team is somewhat diluted due to the team’s inability to absorb so many rookies in one season. … Despite the inactivity for years over Okafor trade rumors, this one is getting traction.”

ESPN.com: Suns interested in Jahlil Okafor

Adrian Wojnarowski writes: “The possibility of a (Greg Monroe) contract buyout could give the Suns freedom to be creative with an open roster spot. Before Dec. 6, the Suns need a spot to convert the two-way contract of productive rookie guard Mike James into a regular roster spot. Also, an open roster spot would give the Suns the chance to become involved in trade talks with Philadelphia 76ers center Jahlil Okafor, a 21-year-old former No. 3 overall pick with whom the Suns have had interest, league sources said.”

azcentral sports: Will Greg Monroe play for Suns?

Scott Bordow writes: “It’s possible Monroe, who will be sidelined at least a week with a calf strain, never will play a game in a Suns uniform. Phoenix already has two centers, (Alex) Len and Tyson Chandler, and it has until Dec. 6 to open up a roster spot so it can convert point guard Mike James’ two-way contract into a standard NBA deal. McDonough said he’s open to trading Monroe but that a buyout of his contract is less likely. He said he’ll discuss all the scenarios with Monroe’s agent, David Falk.”

philly.com: Trade rumors heating up for Okafor and Suns

Keith Pompey writes: “Don’t count on the Sixers taking Monroe in any potential deal with the Suns. The Sixers have around $15 million available in cap space. A chunk of that money is expected to go to Robert Covington, whose contract can be renegotiated as early as Nov. 15. As a result, the Sixers’ cap space is not in play for any deal. The Suns could, however, offer one of their protected draft picks and/or someone with a salary comparable to Okafor’s $4.9 million. The Sixers could agree to take someone like Alex Len. He’s making $4.1 million in the final year of his deal.”

hoopshabit.com: 5 potential Greg Monroe trades

Gerald Bourguet takes a look at some possible trades the Suns could make to unolad Greg Monroe.

His trades include the Nets, Knicks, Magic, Lakers and 76ers (with the Suns getting Okafor in the deal with Philadelphia).

More on Suns:

valleyofthesuns.com also looks at some trades the Suns could make for Greg Monroe, with them listing the Magic, Knicks and Hawks.

ESPN’s Bobby Marks: The Suns are currently $540K above the salary cap floor. Any potential Monroe buyout or trade would likely put Phoenix under.
