Barry Bonds will return to Arizona State when ASU debuts his throwback jersey.

The Sun Devils will wear the Adidas Heritage uniform from the Bonds’ ASU era (1983-85) against UNLV next Tuesday (March 28) at Phoenix Municipal Stadium. Game time is 6:30 p.m.

Bonds hit 45 home runs at ASU and was a 1985 All-American second team. He was on College World Series teams that finished third in 1983 and fourth in 1984. His number 24 is among those honored on the outfield wall at Phoenix Muni, and he was a 1999 inductee into the ASU Sports Hall of Fame.

Bonds was first-round major league baseball draft pick (No. 6 overall) in 1985. He played in the majors from 1986-2007, finishing as the single season and career home run leader with 73 and 762. He was a seven-time National League MVP and 14-time All-Star.

The San Francisco Giants announced Tuesday that Bonds is rejoining the team as a special advisor to the CEO and that he will work with players during the final week of training camp in Scottsdale.

The ASU ceremony is similar to last season when Rick Monday was honored.

ASU is 9-10, 0-3 Pac-12 and plays a series at USC starting Friday before the home game recognizing Bonds.
