A bar patron was shot and killed outside the bar in Tucson early Sunday.

Tucson police were dispatched to the bar for a shooting near Nogales Highway and Olive Street just after 2 a.m., said a press release by the department.

A security guard in the parking lot was performing CPR on an unresponsive man. Officers took over and found obvious signs of gunshot trauma.

Tucson Fire Medics arrived and continued aid, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Detectives continued the investigation and learned the man had left the bar and walked into the parking lot. According to witnesses, police said, the man took out a firearm and fired multiple rounds into the air.

Bar patrons reported the shooting to staff inside the bar, and an unarmed security guard went outside to find the man.

Security guards confronted the man “at which time he was shot,” police said.

There were no other injuries.

Tucson police have made no arrests and said the case will be presented to the Pima County Attorney’s Office for further review.

Police are not identifying the man as next of kin are notified.
