Thinking of hiking Tanque Verde Falls this weekend? Think again.

The Pima County Sheriff’s Department is advising everyone considering heading out to the Redington Pass area, and specifically Tanque Verde Falls, to avoid the area altogether.

Friday night’s storm caused water levels in the area to rise to three times higher than they were last weekend when officials had to rescue 17 hikers, Deputy Cody Gress said.

Gress said more storms were expected Saturday and could cause water levels to rise even more, further increasing the risk of flash flooding.

In addition, Sabino Canyon is at risk to flash flooding. Use caution or avoid the area if possible, officials advised.
