We sat down with several ASU football players to ask them some hard-hitting questions.

Arizona State hosts Michigan State on Saturday and the subplots are aplenty.

The Sun Devils (1-0) won convincingly over Texas-San Antonio last week, while the Spartans (1-0) had their hands full with Utah State. No doubt, Michigan State will be ASU’s first real test in the Herm Edwards era.

One thing fans can look forward to, meanwhile, is the new Black Out uniforms the Sun Devils will wear against the Spartans.

The jersey Wilkins is showing off has a dark gray look to it.

Also, the top has clear markings of the Arizona state flag imprinted across the chest.

If you’re Wilkins, you’re also wearing the black long-sleeved undershirt.

The pants are of course black and the matte black pitchfork helmet tops it all off.

Black Out games

Previous all-black games have been memorable for ASU, for reasons good and bad.

In 2017, ASU won 13-7 over then-No. 4 Washington sporting their all-black gear. It was the Sun Devils’ first win over a top-5 team since the legendary win in 1996 over No. 1 Nebraska.

ASU’s sports information office points out that that game was the Sun Devils’ third win over ranked teams at home while wearing all black (also: No. 20 Wisconsin in 2013 and No. 21 Missouri in 2011).

Two years ago, ASU lost its Black Out game to Utah, but fans may remember that game for other reasons, as the then-true freshman N’Keal Harry made plays all over the field.

He turned a busted play into a highlight, running 31 yards for a score. He also threw an amazing 46-yard pass.

And, for good measure, Harry had eight catches for 114 yards.
