An Arizona State football fan couldn’t resist getting one final jab in at the Arizona Wildcats in Tuesday’s edition of The Arizona Republic.

In his obituary, he mocked Arizona for losing to Arizona State, 70-7, in last season’s Territorial Cup.

Part of the obit for Clair William Lane, 75, who died June 16 after a battle with Leukemia, went as follows:

“He would like to mention the timing has absolutely nothing to do with ASU Football’s pending investigation. However, he does look forward to the investigation of the murder that took place in Arizona Stadium in November 2020 resulting in a 70-7 victory for the Sun Devils.”

Tim Healey, ASU’s play-by-play voice, remembered Lane on Twitter.

“Clair was one of a kind – a great Sun Devil with a terrific sense of humor – as you can tell! May he RIP. Left us way too soon.”

That sense of humor definitely stood out in his obituary.
