Arizona State softball will host an NCAA Tournament regional starting Thursday and is one of six Pac-12 teams in the 64-team field announced Sunday.

ASU (32-14) is seeded No. 15 and is lined up to potentially play No. 2 UCLA (41-4) in a super regional if both advance through a double elimination regional.

Other Pac-12 teams hosting a regional are No. 11 Arizona and No. 16 Washington. Oregon is playing at No. 12 Texas and Stanford at No. 6 Arkansas.

ASU will open against Southern Illinois (37-14). The Tempe regional field also includes BYU (36-15) and Virginia Tech (33-13).

Arizona (36-12) opens Friday against UMBC (25-11). The Tucson regional field also includes Villanova (36-13) and Mississippi (34-20).

The top eight seeds in order are Oklahoma, UCLA, Alabama, Florida, Oklahoma State, Arkansas, LSU and Missouri. All will be super regional hosts regardless of regional results to better accommodate COVID testing.

Best-of-three super regionals will be played May 27-30 with winners advancing to the Women’s College World Series, June 3-9 in Oklahoma City.

The All Pac-12 softball team also was named Sunday.

ASU is represented by catcher Maddi Hackbarth on the first team, outfielder Makenna Harper on the second team and outfielder Kindra Hackbarth, outfielder Jazmine Hill and pitcher Lindsay Lopez on the third team.

Hill, Lopez (in their second season but still considered freshmen due to the COVID shortened 2020) and pitcher Allison Royalty made the Pac-12 All-Freshman team.
