Regular home maintenance requires cleaning out the bathroom and dryer vents, Danny says.

Danny,

We live in a condo… our bathroom vent is downstairs…. how do we clean the entire duct…it’s blowing down black dust!

Diane Salido

Dear Diane,

Most faltering vents are very easy to disassemble from the bathroom side.

Carefully remove the grill, unplug the exhaust fan and the fan motor should easily be removed by removing one to two screws.

You will then have access to the vent pipe to allow you to reach up into there and clean it.

Or consider using a dryer lint brush. It has extension handles and is very easy to use.

While you’re at it, go ahead and clean that dryer vent out.
