Arizona State sophomore shooting guard Kyle Feit has entered the transfer portal in hopes of finding more playing time elsewhere.
Feit, a walk-on, played only 11 minutes over six games this season and he got just five minutes in four games as a freshman in 2018-2019. With the Sun Devils returning the balance of their roster he saw the writing on the wall when it came to trying to advance his career.
“I’m a walk-on so I completely understand,” he said of his lack of court time. “I just love basketball and I love to play so I wanted to explore my options. It has nothing to do with coach or any of the players. I’ll always wish them the best.”
Feit said he talked the move over with the coaching staff and had the blessing of coach Bobby Hurley.
Feit came to ASU from IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla. where he played for a post-graduate year after his high school years at tiny Summit Christian (now called Atlantic Christian) in West Palm Beach, Fla. He ended up at ASU, through a coach on staff at IMG, who had a connection with Hurley’s lead assistant Rashon Burno.
He is majoring in liberal arts and looking at all options but realizes his best bet won’t be in a major conference.
“I’m hoping for maybe a mid-major or low major but we’ll see,” he said. “I’m open to anything.”
Feit is the second ASU player to enter the portal since the season ended, with sophomore Elias Valtonen, a scholarship player, doing so earlier this month.
