Jake Smith, Scottsdale Notre Dame, RB/WR, Sr.

He scored six more touchdowns, giving him 11 of his team’s 12 touchdowns to begin the Saints’ season 2-0. In a win over Phoenix Sunnyslope, he had receiving TDs of 8, 11 and 56 yards, returned a 75-yard kickoff for a score and scored on runs of 67 and 93 yards, with a 93-yarder to cap it off.

Ricky Pearsall Jr., Tempe Corona del Sol, WR/FS, Sr.

Scored on a 94-yard kickoff return, had two interceptions and a 27-yard touchdown catch to give the Aztecs a 19-14 win over Glendale Mountain Ridge.

J.D. Johnson, Phoenix Pinnacle, QB, Jr.

In a 56-34 win over Phoenix Mountain Pointe, he entered the game with less than two minutes to play in the first quarter, replacing the injured Spencer Rattler, and threw for 218 yards and two TDs, completing all seven of his passes the rest of the half, giving his team a 35-21 lead at halftime. He started the second half with a 15-yard TD pass and finished with 286 yards passing, completing 14 of 18.

Gunner Cruz, Queen Creek Casteel, QB, Sr.

In a 60-24 win over Glendale Apollo, Cruz was 24 of 30 for 451 yards and six TDs with no interceptions.

Vincent Wagner, Phoenix Trevor Browne, RB, Jr.

Ran for 270 yards and six TDs in just three quarters in a one-point loss to Phoenix Carl Hayden.

Chris Weaver, Buckeye Odyssey Institute, RB, Jr.

In 2 1/2 quarters of a 41-13 rout of Fountain Hills, he ran 27 times for 333 yards and four TDs.

Dominique Davis, Phoenix Mountain Pointe, WR, Jr.

He had five catches for 211 yards and a TD in the loss at Pinnacle.

Coleman Owen, Gilbert Higley, WR, Sr.

In a 38-31 win Saturday over Scottsdale Horizon, Owen caught six passes for 186 yards and three TDs, including an 87-yarder.

Bijan Robinson, Tucson Salpointe, RB, Jr.

Ran for 301 yards and four TDs in just one half in a rout of Mesa Dobson.

Kohner Cullimore, Gilbert Highland, RB/SS, Sr.

In a game that began Friday night and ended Saturday morning, Cullimore had 190 yards and three TDs rushing and had 103 receiving yards. He also threw a TD pass and had 10 tackles on defense in a 49-28 win over Chandler Hamilton.

Alex Nelson, Cottonwood Mingus, RB, Sr.

Ran 25 times for 244 yards and four TDs in a 55-32 win over Show Low.

Gage Reese, Yuma Catholic, QB, Jr.

In a 36-30 Saturday night win at No. 1 (3A) Phoenix Northwest Christian, he completed 14 of 22 for 209 yards and three TDs.

Aren Van Hofwegen, Northwest Christian, RB/DB, Sr.

In the Yuma Catholic loss, he ran 30 times for 173 yards and had double-digit tackles on defense.

Will Plummer, Gilbert, QB, Jr.

In a 35-10 win over Cave Creek Cactus Shadows, he was 22 of 37 passing for 327 yards and four TDs with one interception. He also ran for 70 yards.

DeCarlos Brooks, Chandler, RB, Sr.

Ran for 212 yards on 26 carries and scored three touchdowns in win over Queen Creek.

Playing his first game on offense, Maldonado had scoring catches of 71 and 42 yards and had an interception on defense.

Darvon Hubbard, Scottsdale Chaparral, RB, Jr.

Ran 18 times for 142 yards and two touchdown and caught three passes in a win over Scottsdale Desert Mountain.

Zane Lalama, Queen Creek, LB, Jr.

He had 23 tackles, five solo, in a 49-21 loss to Chandler.

Tyreck Cosay, Whiteriver Alchesay, RB, Sr.

He carried the ball 45 times for 211 yards in a 14-6 upset of Lakeside Blue Ridge.

Kevin Daniels, Glendale, RB, Jr.

He caught an 84-yard touchdown pass in the closing moments to give his team a 32-28 win over Flagstaff at NAU’s Skydome.

He kicked a 52-yard field goal against Surprise Paradise Honors.

Tyson Grubbs, Phoenix Desert Vista, RB, Jr.

In a 33-21 comeback win at Carlsbad, Calif., he ran for 148 yards and four TDs on 31 carries.

Chubba Purdy, Gilbert Perry, QB, Jr.

In a 42-7 rout of Mesa Mountain View, he completed 11 of 19 for 148 yards and three TDs and scored on a 16-yard run.
