Preseason Arizona high school football rankings:

1A (8-man)

No. 1 Superior: QB Steve Ybarra is a dual threat no other 8-man team has.

No. 2 Williams: Defending state champs reloaded after graduating 10 starters.

No. 3 Bagdad: Coach Dalton Mills will go from spread pass to power run.

No. 4 Heber Mogollon: Outstanding passer Trey Tenney returns after helping Mustangs beat both state finalists — Williams and Superior — last season.

No. 5 Fort Thomas: Apaches run the screen pass as well as anybody.

No. 6 Kearny Ray: Great one-two offensive punch in QB Jaden Pace and RB Jayden Lagunas.

No. 7 Winkelman Hayden: Physical team that will rely on the running of Omar Lopez and Joel Rodriguez.

No. 8 Joseph City: QB Cameron Baldwin can get the Wildcats in the end zone quickly with his arm and legs.

No. 9 Salome: Hopes to keep surprising opponents after upsetting Mayer last year in the playoffs.

No. 10 Phoenix NFL Yet: Shekedreen Bryant is may be the most imposing (6-foot-5, 195 pounds) and athletic player in 1A.
