Rookie Anthony Banda will make his third career start for the D-Backs on Thursday. He’ll face the newest member of the division leading Dodgers in Darvish, who will be making his second start with his new team after being traded at the deadline by the Texas Rangers. Darvish threw seven scoreless innings while striking out 10 against the Mets last week in his first appearance. Banda is coming off his first major league win, which he picked up after the D-Backs topped the Giants last week. Banda pitched six innings, allowing just one run.
Checking in on Wild Card race
The Diamondbacks continue to battle in the NL Wild Card race.
They now trail the Rockies in the race for the first NL Wild Card spot by a half game. Arizona has a 6.5-game lead on the Brewers and Cardinals for the final playoff berth (the No. 2 Wild Card spot).
As for the division race, Arizona trails the Los Angeles Dodgers by 16 games.

All roads lead to Arizona
So last month, an older woman at a Dodgers game decided to flash the in-stadium camera as it panned fans between innings.
The display made Betty True something of a cult hero among Dodgers fans- and the subject of an excellent Bill Plaschke piece in the LA Times.
As Plaschke notes, the internet is a mysterious creature and True’s story has ‘gone viral’ with outlets around the country picking up her story, including some in Arizona after it was learned that True lives in Fort Mohave, on the Arizona-Nevada border.
Here’s what the blog All The Moms had to say about True’s brush with fame, after speaking with True this month:
In my book, True is not only #aginggoals but #workoutgoals. But, even in your 80s, it seems, women find problem areas with their bodies that they’d like to improve upon.
True said she wished the video didn’t show so much arm flab.
Nonetheless, the escapade is what birthed her nickname of “Rally Granny.” The Dodgers came back from a 4-3 deficit in that July 8 game to beat the Kansas City Royals 5-4.
Dodgers first baseman rookie Cody Bellinger dubbed her “The Rally Granny” in the clubhouse.
