With fans back in the stands this year, the Arizona Diamondbacks are ready to engage them with giveaways and events at Chase Field all season long.

For 2021, the team will offer a mixture of new and returning promotions. Derrick Hall, the Diamondbacks’ president and CEO, says the team continually adds to its promotional schedule.

“What we try to do with our promos is always try to appeal to all fans. We may have some that are geared more towards women, some geared towards kids and some geared more towards men, a nice mix and a nice blend,” Hall said.

Hall said the events offer an extra incentive for fans to come out to the ballpark.

“You’ve had to work from home. You’ve had to stay at home. You’ve had quarantines. You haven’t really felt safe. Now the (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) guidelines have loosened. Get out to the ballpark,” Hall said.

During special events and holidays, there will be themed food and drinks, and the team’s mascot D. Baxter the Bobcat will don special costumes.

There are some new ticket options this year. A date package costs $100 and includes two baseline tickets and $50 in D-Bucks, which can be used for concessions, future tickets or merchandise. Buy it at dbacks.com/date. Or opt for $10 Tuesdays, in which fans can purchase upper-level tickets for $10 for Tuesday games.

Special events throughout 2021 will highlight various communities throughout Arizona. Entertainers, national anthem singers and first-pitch throwers will fit the themes.

A tribal jersey giveaway on May 29 and 30 is intended to highlight Native American communities in Arizona that support the team.

Choir members from Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church will sing the national anthem during the June 19 Juneteenth celebration, and storytellers with engage with crowds in the rotunda and concourse areas.

Mariachi musicians will perform on Hispanic Heritage Day, Sept. 25.

On Friday nights from July through September, as well as July 3 and 4, fans can stay for postgame fireworks. Hall said fans, as well as people who live in and near downtown, enjoy the displays.

“It is something that is a tradition here. It’s going to be great to have that back. As people have moved downtown, they’ve told us it’s like their own private fireworks show on a Friday night,” Hall said.

Many of the giveaways will take place over two days to allow more fans to be able to receive collectible D-Backs items. The items will be available to the first 5,000 to 15,000 guests, depending on the giveaway.

Hall says the decision to do giveaways over multiple days was made during the off-season when Major League Baseball teams were dealing with uncertainty in terms of fan attendance.

“It was so unknown how the season would go, if we were going to have full crowds or be limited all year. So, with that, we ended up doing the first 5,000 or 10,000 for weekend games. We’ve never done that. We always picked one game, and it was for our first 15,000 fans,” he said.

“This year, we did it differently, and it’s actually worked out well because some fans can’t go on that one day. Now they are able to pick between two different days.”

Some of the special events will have a charity component. As part of the June 11 Pride Night, for example, the D-Backs will donate a portion of ticket sales to local LGBT organizations One Community and Phoenix Pride. For $30, attendees get a lower-level ticket and a Pride-themed baseball cap. Tickets are available at https://www.mlb.com/dbacks/community/dbacks-for-change/pride.
