Capitals (51-17-8) vs. Coyotes (27-40-9)

Puck drop: 7 p.m.

TV/Radio: Fox Sports Arizona/KTAR-AM (620).

Coyotes captain Shane Doan will return to the lineup tonight against the Capitals after missing seven games with a groin injury.

“The way that Tip (coach Dave Tippett) and Serbs (head athletic trainer Jason Serbus) were, they’ve bene incredible with me in order to make sure it’s OK. At the same time, (they were) guarding me. As a player, you have to learn to trust their opinions and you sure appreciate the way they take care of you as a player and the opportunity to play again. I’m pretty excited.”

Backup Louis Domingue will make a second straight start.

“(Mike Smith’s) under the weather,” Tippett said.

Winger Jamie McGinn has rejoined the team after leaving earlier this week because of a death in the family.

“He just got back late last night, so he won’t play,” Tippett said.
