The Arizona Cardinals hold the team’s annual Red-White practice on Saturday in Glendale and azcentral’s sports team will have live updates and analysis here throughout the day.

A Coach in Both Ears

One of the reasons – better make that two of the reasons – why Cardinals rookie inside linebacker Haason Reddick seems to be picking things up so well in training camp  has to do with the two people constantly in his ears.

One of them is Karlos Dansby, the veteran linebacker Reddick’s been playing alongside. The other is former NFL middle linebacker Larry Foote, the Cardinals’ inside linebackers coach.

“I’m always learning,” Dansby said. “In the classroom with Foote, I’m learning. When I come off on the sideline I’m next to Foote, learning. There’s all these pointers that he’s teaching me. Same thing when I’m on the field with ’Los, I’m learning. I’m constantly learning and listening to both of them at the same time. I’ve got one in this ear and one in the other ear.

“But having them two around has been the best thing that could happen to me as a rookie because 14 years, 13 years (of their playing experience), you put that together that’s how much? That’s a lot of years and a lot of knowledge for me to be taking in.”

It’s a lot of personality, too. Dansby and Foote aren’t exactly what you’d call “wallflowers.” They both are constantly talking and chattering and can be heard above almost everyone else.

That’s a lot of decibels for Reddick to tolerate, but he says he loves it.

Here’s the thing, though. A couple times this week, coach Bruce Arians has said Reddick is almost too studious and too by-the-book good when it comes to manning the team’s “money” ’backer role in camp. He said what Reddick needs to focus on now is just letting his natural athletic ability finish the job – play with a little more recklessness and desire.

If he does, that’s sure to get Dansby and Foote barking in his ears with appreciation.

Red-White practice details:

When: The practice is scheduled from 2 to 4:30 p.m. at University of Phoenix Stadium.

Parking: Fans can park on the east side (Green and Grey) and west side (Orange) of the stadium beginning at 12:30 p.m. Fans can enter University of Phoenix Stadium at Hyundai Gate 1 (west side) and through Bud Light Gate 3 (east side) at 1:30 p.m.

What to expect: The Cardinals are careful not to call Saturday’s Red & White practice a scrimmage, but there likely will be more full-team competition than on a normal day.

There will be short-yardage and goal-line sessions, as well as what Arians called a “move-the-ball scrimmage. Not sure who is tackling who yet but there will be a live scrimmage that we have not had in the past.”

The move-the-ball scrimmage usually features Arians calling the offensive plays and James Bettcher calling the defense.

The sessions are not scripted, which creates more of a game-type atmosphere.

An autograph session featuring the whole team will follow the practice.

Keep an eye on Nkemdiche

On the first day the Cardinals reported to training camp, coach Bruce Arians said he couldn’t wait to see defensive tackle Robert Nkemdiche in full pads.

As Nkemdiche strutted his stuff around University of Phoenix Stadium in a helmet and shorts, his body ripped with perfectly primed muscularity and his massive thighs looking like tree stumps, one reporter quipped to another, “It looks like he already is wearing pads.”

There might be no other player in camp drawing more curiosity and wonderment than Nkemdiche, the club’s second-year pro and former No. 1 draft pick.

Fans who attend Saturday’s annual Red and White practice will understandably focus most of their attention on star wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald and rising star running back David Johnson. But they’d be wise to also keep their eyes on No. 90, the guy who looks an awful lot like the man who used to wear that number here – Darnell Dockett.
