The Arizona Cardinals’ Josh Rosen appears to be taking his growing pains on the field in stride.

He even joked about a potential mistake on Instagram.

The Cardinals rookie quarterback out of UCLA posted a photo of him talking to offensive coordinator Mike McCoy on his account with the following caption:

“What the hell were you thinking here Josh, you almost threw a pick six?”

“Sorry coach, the chargers’ blue looks exactly like UCLA’s. I forgot we were red for a second. I promise it won’t happen again”

Rosen went 6-for-13 for 41 yards in his first preseason game against the Chargers and their blue uniforms, but he stepped up his play in his second game against the Saints, who wore black and gold uniforms, last week.

Rosen went 10-for-16 for 107 yards in New Orleans.

The quarterback also showed glimpses of his potential.

One of his completions against the Saints was a nice pass into tight coverage to fellow rookie Christian Kirk for a 13-yard touchdown on third and goal.

azcentral sports’ Bob McManaman summed up Rosen’s performance against the Saints:

“After a nondescript preseason debut a week ago, rookie quarterback Josh Rosen got a real chance to show his abilities in the win at New Orleans,” McManaman wrote. “Yes, there were some missteps, like maybe holding on to the ball a tad too long on occasion, but the majority of his passes were right on target. He also showed a nice degree of awareness in the pocket by moving a little here and there in certain situations to buy some time for himself and his receivers. His touchdown pass to fellow rookie Christian Kirk was a perfect example of that, and he threw it in the only spot where Kirk could make the play.”
