The NFL world received a big surprise on Tuesday when word came that Cam Newton had been released by the New England Patriots.
Speculation immediately swirled for which team the quarterback could next play.
Odds were also released for Newton’s landing spot.
sportsbetting.ag’s odds for Newton’s next destination led off with the Pittsburgh Steelers at +550.
The Indianapolis Colts, Dallas Cowboys and Washington Football Team were next at +600.
Fifth on the list of odds? The Carolina Panthers, Newton’s old team, at +750.
The Baltimore Ravens and Houston Texans were tied with the Panthers.
Interestingly, the Arizona Cardinals were tied for eighth in the odds with the New York Jets, Detroit Lions and Minnesota Vikings at +1000.

The Cincinnati Bengals (+1400), Seattle Seahawks (+1400), Tennessee Titans (+1400), Los Angeles Rams (+1600), Kansas C8ity Chiefs (+3300) and Tampa Bay Buccaneers (+5000) were also included in the odds.
The Cardinals showing up in the odds is interesting since the team has Kyler Murray as its starter and Colt McCoy as the backup.
But some NFL writers like Newton’s potential fit as Murray’s backup.
NJ.com’s Mike Kaye listed the Cardinals among three “logical” landing spots for Newton.
He wrote: “Like Wilson, Cardinals starting QB Kyler Murray is a mobile passer. Newton could come in and be an upgrade over incumbent backup Colt McCoy. Newton knows the pressure Murray faces as a former No. 1 pick and the two have similar skill sets. Newton could be a mentor to Murray while he looks to rebrand himself as a veteran backup.”

Kaye’s comment about Newton mentoring Murray sounds nice, but would Newton sign with a team to be a backup?
Would Arizona want Newton as its backup?
The team seems pleased with its quarterback room at the moment, with veteran Colt McCoy a big upgrade from Chris Streveler as the team’s backup.
Streveler, the No. 2 QB a season ago, is currently No. 3 on the depth chart.
Other teams were mentioned much more often as possible destinations for Newton in stories about potential landing spots for the quarterback, included the Cowboys, Texans, Colts, Ravens and Washington.
There is no denying Newton’s unique talent.
Where will he end up?
