Cardinals’ Arians talks free agency and draft
Cardinals linebacker Daryl Washington was conditionally reinstated from suspension last week, but has not yet met with team officials, who will decide his future.
That meeting is coming soon, General Manager Steve Keim told Adam Schein of SiriusXM Radio.
“To be quite honest, we have had dialogue with his agent but have not had a chance to talk to Daryl because of how busy we’ve been,” Keim said.
Last week, Keim said the Cardinals would talk to Washington after the draft, which concluded last Saturday.
At some point soon, Washington will meet with Keim, team President Michael Bidwill and Coach Bruce Arians. The Cardinals have not ruled out bringing Washington back.
He is under contract for the next four seasons, but that deal is unlikely to stay in place.
Washington is due to make $2.9 million in salary this season, and it’s doubtful the Cardinals or any other team will pay him that much.
Keim called the upcoming meeting “more than anything, just an educational briefing of ‘where have you been the last three years? What’s been going on in your life?’
“The way the system is set up right now, there is a lot of unknown.”
