The Harkins Theater at Chandler Fashion Center and at locations in Casa Grande, Sedona and Maricopa County have pending liquor license requests, according to the Arizona Department of Liquor.
Alcoholic beverages could be available soon at several more Harkins Theatres in metro Phoenix.
The Scottsdale-based theater chain has liquor licenses pending for its Chandler Fashion Center theater and Norterra theater in north Phoenix. It also plans to bring an in-lobby bar with wine, beer and several local craft favorites to its Arrowhead Fountains theater in Peoria, according to the company website.
Harkins also has pending liquor licenses for three undetermined locations in Casa Grande, Sedona and Maricopa County, according to the Arizona Department of Liquor.
In recent years, many movie theaters have increased amenities to compete for entertainment dollars. Harkins already serves alcohol at five Valley locations:
- Camelview at Fashion Square Mall in Scottsdale.
- Chandler Crossroads.
- Estrella Falls in Goodyear.
- Scottsdale 101.
- Tempe Marketplace.
Other theater-dining concepts have gained a foothold in the Valley, including Alamo Drafthouse Cinema, which opened in Chandler in 2016 and serves beer, dinner and movies. Alamo plans to open a Tempe location next year.
Flix Brewhouse, a theater with a dine-in microbrewery, is planned for Chandler and Peoria.
