The Alliance of American Football, a new pro football league starting play in February, unveiled the team names and logos for four of its eight franchises.

But Arizona is not among the first four announced.

The names and logos that were revealed were the Atlanta Legends, Birmingham Iron, Memphis Express and Orlando Apollos.

Arizona’s team name and logo will be revealed along with those for San Diego, San Antonio and Salt Lake City on Tuesday, according to the AAF website.

The Arizona team was officially announced in May. Rick Neuheisel, who grew up in Tempe, played at UCLA and coached in college at Colorado, Washington and UCLA, was named the head coach days later. In June, NFL front-office veteran Phil Savage was named the Arizona team’s general manager.

The team will play in Sun Devil Stadium with a roster that features five players familiar with the venue: quarterback Mike Bercovici, linebacker Carl Bradford, linebacker DJ Calhoun, running back Demario Richard and defensive tackle Will Sutton all played at Arizona State.

Now, all that remains is Arizona’s name and logo.

The AAF is launching in February 2019 with eight teams playing a 12-week schedule. League founders are TV producer Charlie Ebersol and NFL Hall of Fame executive Bill Polian. The games will be televised on CBS.

Jean Boyd, ASU executive senior associate athletic director, said being home to a pro team is “in alignment” with the school’s intent to find year-round uses for Sun Devil Stadium under a concept called ASU 365 Community Union.
