Flagstaff police arrested a man suspected of being involved in an attempted homicide that took place early Thursday morning. 

At approximately 2:53 a.m., Flagstaff police responded to a call regarding an assault near East Soliere Avenue. Upon arriving, officers found an unresponsive female victim with severe injuries, according to a release.

Emergency services arrived and began rendering aid to the victim until she was brought to a nearby hospital for further treatment. The current state of the victim is unknown at this time.

Detectives who responded to the scene began to collect evidence and speak with witnesses, including the individual who reported the assault, police said. 

The suspect involved in the assault was later identified as Alexander Baca, 30, of Flagstaff. 

Baca was arrested for attempted homicide and booked into the Coconino County Detention Facility.  

The victim’s identity has not been released at this time. 

Flagstaff police are investigating the assault and additional information will be provided as it becomes available.
