Do you know what to do if you’re in an accident?

Five people were taken to hospitals Monday morning after a collision involving an 8,000-gallon tanker truck carrying jet fuel.

The tanker had rolled, crushing the cab of a pickup truck and spilling at least 150 gallons of jet fuel alongside the roadway near 59th Avenue and Lower Buckeye Road.

Phoenix fire Capt. Larry Subervi said five people were critically injured and two others had minor injuries. Subervi said the pickup driver was able to get out of the vehicle on his own.

A hazardous-materials team was working to stop the fuel leak. Subervi said another tanker truck was on its way to the scene to offload the jet fuel before the rolled tanker could be righted.
