The Cardinals reported to training camp Friday, marking the beginning of the NFL season and creating a perfect excuse to dive into the latest odds.

Yes, it’s early– blame the Cardinals and Cowboys playing in the NFL Hall of Fame Game for that– but there’s already enough out there to come to some conclusions about what the oddsmakers think of the Cardinals chances this season.

(Numbers provided by oddsshark.com, which offers a consensus of several Las Vegas sports books.)

It’s not good. But Vegas’ trash can be your treasure if you’re a Cardinals fan or at least someone who believes this year’s team is better than last year’s.

Things working for the Cardinals: They play opponents from the AFC South and the NFC East, which have one team among them that might be considered a Super Bowl contender (Dallas, 12/1).

Things working against the Cardinals: The team is facing questions about how it will compensate for some defensive losses (Calais Campbell and Tony Jefferson chief among them) and whether its 37-year-old quarterback can stay healthy and regain his 2015 form.

NFC West win totals:

Right now, the Cardinals’ over/under is set at 8 wins. Last year’s team went 7-8-1, so that would be an improvement, but not much of one.

Seahawks: 10.5

Cardinals: 8

Rams: 5.5

49ers: 4.5

To win the NFC West:

The Cardinals finished second in the NFC West last year, sweeping the 49ers, splitting the Rams series and taking a tie and a win versus the Seahawks.

Seahawks: 2/7

Cardinals: 3/1

Rams: 12/1

49ers: 18/1

CARDINALS PODCAST: The last hurrah for the Arians-Palmer era?

To win the NFC:

The Cardinals played the NFC South and AFC East as non-divisional conference opponents in 2016, going 2-6 with the wins coming versus the Jets and Buccaneers. The 2017 non-divisional conference schedule should prove more favorable.

Cardinals: 14/1;

The Favorites:

Packers: 4/1

Cowboys: 6/1

Falcons: 6/1

Seahawks: 6/1

Others at 14/1: Panthers; Vikings

To win the Super Bowl:

Oddsmakers – just like many Valley fans – have a hard time figuring out the Cardinals, who are pegged anywhere from 16-1 to 42-1 across the gambling universe. Arizona, at many sites, is on par with Indianapolis, Minnesota and Tampa Bay when it comes to winning the Lombardi Trophy in Minneapolis next February.

If you like the odds of a home team winning the Super Bowl, the Vikings provide some interesting value.

The Favorites:

Patriots: 5/1

Packers: 15/2

Falcons: 8/1

Cowboys: 10/1

Steelers: 10/1

Seahawks: 12/1
