A Phoenix man has died of wounds suffered when he was shot Tuesday morning outside a south Phoenix apartment complex, police said.
Mario Ruiz, 29, was found wounded lying outside the apartment unit while two children younger than 5 years old were alone inside, Phoenix police said. It happened near Eighth Street and Dobbins Road around 11:30 a.m.
Sgt. Vince Lewis said the man was taken to a hospital,where he later was pronounced dead.
Family members have taken custody of the children, who were unharmed, Lewis said.
