A driver was in custody after leading troopers on an early-morning chase before crashing near the light-rail tracks at Fifth and Washington streets, according to the Arizona Department of Public Safety.

About 4 a.m., a man DPS troopers were pursuing lost control of his vehicle, hit a curb and crashed, said Trooper Kameron Lee, DPS spokesman.

He said no injuries were reported and one person was taken into custody.

It was not immediately clear why troopers were pursuing white Chevy sedan before the crash. An investigation was continuing, Lee said.
