Thunderstorms near the Arizona and New Mexico border triggered a chain reaction collision involving 25 vehicles that left six dead according to Arizona Department of Public Safety. 

It happened just after 5 p.m. Monday evening at milepost 11, which is just east of State Route 191 New Mexico State Police spokesman said. 

“There were 25 vehicles involved,” Trooper Kameron Lee, spokesman for Arizona Department of Public Safety said, “with six fatalities.” 

Lee said DPS assisted the NMSP investigation with “scene measurements” and helping to coordinate evidence. 

No other details were immediately known as of 6 a.m. Tuesday morning.
