A serious-injury accident shut down State Route 347 at Riggs Road on Friday, forcing traffic off the road and onto Interstate 10, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.

The crash occurred about 3:45 p.m.

The crash was forcing southbound traffic on SR 347, also known as Maricopa Road, to go east on Riggs Road to I-10.

Multiple emergency vehicles were responding to the scene.

The road, which passes through the Gila River Indian Reservation, is the major link between the southeast Valley and the city of Maricopa.

It was unclear how long the road would be closed. Details on the crash and injuries were not immediately available.
