A serious traffic accident involving a motorcycle shut down the eastbound lanes of Loop 101 in north Phoenix on Wednesday night, the  Arizona Department of Transportation said.

The accident occurred about 9 p.m. on eastbound Loop 101 at Seventh Street, according to the Arizona Department of Public Safety.

DPS did not immediately provide details on the accident, including injuries.

ADOT officials said the eastbound on-ramps at Seventh and 19th avenues were closed to traffic entering Loop 101 and all eastbound lanes remained shut at Seventh Street about 10 p.m. Wednesday.

Officials did not have an estimate on when the freeway would reopen.
