The Cleveland Browns reached their limit with DeShone Kizer on Sunday.
The rookie quarterback was benched at halftime of the team’s 17-14 loss to the New York Jets. Kevin Hogan replaced him in the lineup.
The Browns trailed 3-0 at the time. Kizer completed just eight of 17 passes for 87 yards and an interception. Hogan finished with 194 yards, two touchdowns and an interception on 16-of-19-passing.
Kizer entered the week with the worst quarterback rating (50.9) of any starter.
Browns coach Hue Jackson called Kizer his “permanent” starter upon giving him the top job in August. The second-round pick from Notre Dame is the 27th different quarterback to start for the franchise since 1999.
