A 3-year-old girl nearly drowned in apool Monday night, the Chandler Fire Department said.

The girl was underwater for about 30 seconds after falling into a pool during a family gathering in a neighborhood southeast of Queen Creek and McQueen roads, officials said.

Her father pulled her from the bottom of the pool, and another family member performed CPR, fire officials said.

When firefighters arrived, the child was breathing and throwing up water, fire officials said.

She was taken to the Cardon’s Children’s hospital in Mesa to be evaluated.
