Three teenagers are dead and another three are in critical condition after a deadly crash in north Phoenix early Sunday.

The crash happened near 23rd and Dunlap avenues shortly after 12:15 a.m.

According to Phoenix police, a 16-year-old male was driving a 2015 Nissan Pathfinder east on West Dunlap Avenue when he drover over the center line and into the westbound lines, striking a 2006 Kia Spectra driven by 18-year-old Nijah Chibeast.

The three teenage occupants of the first vehicle were taken to a nearby hospital, officials said. One of the 16-year-old male passengers was pronounced dead. The other two were in critical condition.

Both Chibeast and her 18-year-old female passenger were pronounced dead at the scene.

Police believe that impairment may have been a factor in the collision.
