What is a Silent Witness and how do you become one?
A woman was killed inside a Mesa condominium on Friday during a domestic-violence dispute and three children were found unharmed in the home after her body was discovered, police said.
Police believe the woman was a victim of domestic violence and the case is being investigated as a homicide, said Mesa Detective Steven Berry.
Officers were called to the home near Brown Road and Center Streeet about 5 p.m. Friday for an unknown disturbance, Berry said.
When officers arrived, they found the woman inside. She was pronounced dead at the scene, Berry said.
As officers checked the residence, they also found three children, all younger than 12, Berry said. The children were not harmed, he said.
They were removed to a safe location and the state Department of Child Safety would be contacted to help place the children, Berry said.
As police were investigating at the scene, officers found a man in Phoenix who was detained for questioning in connection with the woman’s death, Berry said. Police do not believe there are any suspects at large, Berry added.
The identity of the man was not released. The woman’s name also was not released.
